How did you get tissue in there?

Tomorrow I'm having surgery for a reduction up top... and of course I have been wondering how to bring this topic up with my kids, specifically Grace. So, finally about 4 days ago, I told the kids I was having surgery.. and then the questions started.

I started by being vague... I said I was "Having some Tissue Removed"... and at this, Grace said "Mom, how did you get TISSUE in your body?"

I then explained that tissue was another word for skin. The conversation continued, and I continued to be vague- I think Grace thinks I'm having something near my armpit removed.

As you can imagine, her brain has been working overtime to figure this whole thing out. Tonight, she grilled me again on what was going to happen... and ended up concluding that she might need to feed me ( she won't). She said this really sincere prayer tonight which included.... " Bless that mom will be able to lay in bed for a few days after her surgery, bless her to be able to eat, or let us feed her, bless her that when she is able to get up, that her legs will work and not be wobbly".

Its sweet really... my whole intent was to portray to her that this is something minor, and not everyone has to do it....
